Canon EOS 50D

Our EOS line up now includes the Canon 50D. With an effective resolution of 15 megapixels, this camera is an improvement of 50% compared to the 40D's image resolution of 10 megapixels. It contains a higher image buffer, the Digic 4 processor. Also noteworthy are the newly enhanced Live View, integrated cleaning system, and Auto Focus system. Our rental unit includes the grip and two batteries. Give it a try for $90 per day.

Nikon D700

The full frame digital camera is now available to the public and is becoming increasingly popular. The familiarity to 35mm operation is returning and Nikon has helped create the market for this type of camera with their FX badged D700. Like the Canon 5D, the D700 uses a 35mm sized sensor and offers the same image quality of the Nikon D3 in a smaller package. The camera will accept DX format lenses and integrate the required resolution crop. Unlike the D3, the D700 has a built in flash, which allows it to become a flash commander in the Nikon Creative Lighting System. It is a rugged build and available for rental for $150.00 per day, which includes the vertical grip and two batteries.

Sigma 8mm F/3.5 Circular Fisheye

This circular fisheye lens produces circular images with an angle of view of 180° when attached to a full-frame digital SLR or 35mm film SLR camera. On an APS-C sized sensor, the lens will become 12mm. It has a fast maximum aperture of F3.5 and a minimum focusing distance of 13.5cm (5.3"). Sigma's super multi-layer coating and Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass provide excellent image quality for digital and film SLR cameras. The special fisheye design allows maximum creative expression and a different point of view. The lens is available for rent in both Nikon and Canon EOS mount for $25.00 per day.

Leica Intoduces Something New; the Leica S2

(excerpt from Leica press release)

This camera revisions camera technology in through an interesting approach. With a custom 37.5-megapixel, 30 x 45 mm sensor that is 56% larger than full frame, it establishes parameters of imaging excellence that are well beyond those obtainable by conventional pro-caliber DSLRs. In the Leica tradition, it utilizes the classic 3:2 aspect ratio that corresponds to the human field of vision and is widely acclaimed as the Leica Format.

In designing this brilliant new camera, Leica's engineers took a close look at the best existing DSLR designs and then synergized them into a radical but practical new camera that combines the performance parameters of a medium-format digital camera with the ergonomics, form factor, and handling ease of a 35mm SLR. The result is the new Leica S2, an entirely new, finely crafted, professional tool developed in-house by Leica with hands-on input from some of the most renowned professional photographers in the world.

It incorporates an advanced new dual shutter system with in-body focal-plane shutter for fast lenses, and in-lens leaf shutters for high flash sync speeds, an ultra-high-precision autofocusing system, a new series of lenses designed for the highest possible performance with the new sensor, and a Maestro image processing system that provides twice the speed of comparable medium-format backs, reduces power consumption, and provides in-camera JPEG capability. Remarkably, all of this has been incorporated into a camera that is smaller than a full-size professional 35mm SLR, and still has the unmistakable look and feel of a Leica. Nikon Improves Upon Its Bright Creative Lighting System Idea With The SB-900

(information collected from www.nikonusa.com)

The SB-900 is Nikon's newest addition to their Creative Lighting System. Like the SB-800, the SB-900 is able to control an infinite number of compatible speedlights with four available grouping channels. However, SB-900 carries some improvements, such as an expanded zoom coverage of 12-200mm, auto FX/DX lens recognition and color gel detection, and flash tube overheat protection.
